It is very important to confirm your interview date, time, location, the person you are going to meet along with the list of documents that needs to be carried, with the company HR or recruitment consultant.
Make sure to reach your venue atleast 30 mins prior to the fixed date.
Make sure that you go through your resume atleast once before interview, just in case if there are any updates that you would like to make on your resume. Also prepare to answer questions from your submitted resume.
Be comfortable with the attire you wear. Try to wear something formal. You should give a professional appearance to the recruiters. Note: A haircut or a shave before the interview would be much better. Do not smoke just before an interview starts.
Before an interview, keep all your documents and certificates xerox.
Prepare yourself with the most commonly asked interview questions with respect to technical and HR interview questions.
Understand the job requirements. Match yourself to the skill set provided. Be ready to answer questions like “Why should we hire you?” or "What makes you unique from the other candidates". Go online or ask any of your colleagues or friends for detailed questions on the job description and the skills provided.
Go through the company’s website. This is very important. Ask your friends or any ex-employee working in that company. Know a bit more about work culture, benefits that a company provides for their employees and other possible things that you would like to know.
Make a list of questions that you want to ask to the interviewer about the company. This is actually very important because by asking questions about the company, you are giving an impression about yourself to the company HR that you are really interested in working with this company.
Carry all your documents in a file/folder. Do not carry them in a plastic bag or any other bag.
Have a proper sleep before an interview so that you will look more fresh and ready for the interview.
Always carry multiple copies of your resume.
Put atleast 2 references with their contact details and designation in your resume. But before adding anyone as a reference make sure you have double checked with the person and a permission has been granted by them. Make sure that they provide you with a good reference. It is always better to use any of your current colleagues as a references as far as possible.
Carry your Interview Call letter.
On arrival, inform the receptionist that you have been called for an interview
If you have to reschedule the interview inform the company contact person well in advance.
